Graphic novels finally available in a big way
I’ve been waiting for graphic novels to become widely available in ebook form since the iPad was announced in January 2010. The first graphic novel became available last summer (Planetary Omnibus). However, graphic novel collections have been few since then. I thought they would be available first through either comiXology’s apps or Amazon. But, Apple ended up winning this race by making 80 graphic novels available through the iBooks Store. Prices range from $6.99 to $24.99. Some appear slightly above the cost of buying the hardcopy while others are a few dollars less expensive. This may have a bigger impact on comiXology than books though since buying a series of comics collected in a graphic novel is less expensive than buying individual e-issues through comiXology’s Marvel iPad app.
